Practical classes:
Industrial Internship

Foreign Industrial Internship consists in a stay at the renowned foreign institution (a company or a research and development unit), during which students participate in projects dealing with designing, manufacturing and operation/service of mechatronic systems.

Method of calculating the final grade:

The credit for the course is granted be a supervisor of the Master thesis of each student basing on: the report prepared by the student, and on the reference letter prepared by an authorized representative of the hosting institution. The reference letter should report the performance of the students during the internship.

Prerequisites and additional requirements:

Initial requirements:
- avarage study grade 4.0
- no deficit of ECTS points
- joint internship duration time at least 4 months
Requirements dealing with getting credit for the internship:
After completing the internship students present a report that:
- describes shortly the course of the internship and problems in solving of which the student participated
- characterises the position(s) in the structure of the hosting institution that the student took in the course of the internship (including description of the partition of tasks and responsibility)
- reports shortly all the practical achievements of the student gained during the internship.
The scope of the reported technical description of the internship must comply with the confidentiality policy observed at the hosting institution.
The report must be prepared in English and accepted in writing by the authorised representative of the hosting institution.
Students should present a reference letter prepared by the authorized representative of the hosting institution. The letter must contain:
- assessment of the individual and team performance of the student
- assessment of the documentation prepared by the students during the internship for their supervisors, the assessment should regard also the way of presentation of the achieved results by the students to their supervisors and collaborators
- assessment of fluency of application of the engineering knowledge and tools of the Computer Aided Engineering during the internship
- assessment of the communicative skills of the students in foreign language at work (office) during activities undertaken during the internship
- consistency of the students’ reports with the confidentiality policy observed at the hosting unit
- remarks concerning deficiencies in engineering knowledge and/or practical engineering skills of the students that from the point of view of the hosting institution should be introduced into the syllabus of the program Mechatronics.

To attend the ‘Foreign Industrial Internship’ students should apply to the Dean for acceptance before starting the course RME-1-701-s ‘Apprenticeship’.
In the framework of the „Foreign Industrial Internship” students who plan to attend the „Professional training” at a foreign company or a research and development institution for at least 4 month can get also credit for the ‘Foreign Industrial Internship’ (a component of the elective speciality module realized during the 7th semester of the study).
