Module content
Lectures:

The main objective of the course should illustrate a beneficial interdisciplinary program to the role of gender and actual art topics in our global society across the spectrum of human experience. The course addresses human struggles and achievements across cultures and analyses their development under the institutional and social power, as well as scientific forces that create meaning around gender. Moreover, it is a crucial attribution towards reflectivity for the intersectional approach of the body in a self-criticism spectrum of race, class and gender.
How are the dynamics in feminist movements, the visibility of sexual minorities nowadays, as well as post colonial studies, biopolitics, and capitalism present in our society?
This contemplation of gender develops something more transcendental. The course includes own creation, based on intimacy and the relationship between the body and what surrounds it, namely the location of the body and its situation. As a result, students should develop a better understanding of the needs and importance of the bodily manifestation to unravel the paradox that the body can not freely exist just as carnal concept.

Method of calculating the final grade:

Each student has an insight into the subject matter and bibliography before the course. With the 16th meeting it is the student’s duty to choose one topic from the so far provided lectures as a title for their paper. The paper arrives to own reflection how to critically analyse the lectured journals and essays on the cultural scene. Next to the content the focus will be on independent understanding how to research autonomously, evaluate, interpret and paraphrase academic papers. This work acquires an attraction and a motivation of a very personal kind, believing that culture can be an instrument for dealing with personal and social conflicts. (40%)

The final exam will be based on all the material provided during the semester. (60%)
