The candidates for the admission to graduate studies in mining and geology must have knowledge and competencies provided at undergraduate studies in mining and geology or earth science.
In particular, have the following competencies:
- basic knowledge and practical skills, including field trips, in the field of earth sciences
- basic knowledge of mineral deposit geology, as well as research methods, exploration and documentation of minerals deposits
- the ability to use specialized computer programs,
- knowledge of the basic principles and tools of numerical modeling of certain natural phenomena and technical activities enabling them to assess their environmental impact
- the ability to create documentation for a design engineering task
- English proficiency level B2 (according to Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, CEFR)

AGH UST development strategy assumes, that all educational programs mast be in agreement with Bologna Process. All educational programs are fully expressed in the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS). Graduates of Economic Geology are sought on the domestic and foreign work market. By carrying out the AGH-UST mission, education contributes to deepening cooperation between science and industry and the development of innovation and implementation through the development of research.

The student is registered to the next semester if his/her ECTS credit deficiency does not exceed 10 ECTS credits. In addition, a requirement for the entry for the second semester is a choosen the MS thesis. In the control semester student fulfills the additional requirements referred to in paragraph 7_11 AGH UST Study Regulations.

Zasady ustalania końcowej oceny studiów:

The final grade on Diploma is determined according to the rules described in AGH UST Study Regulations and it is calculated as weighted average from an average grade from the studies (0.6), grade from master thesis (calculated as an average from the grades obtained from thesis supervisor and reviewer) (0.2), and a grade from diploma exam (0.2).

Zasady prowadzenia procesu dyplomowania:

1. Graduation exam is a prerequisite for graduation.
2. A student is admitted to the diploma exam when:
1) completed all courses and practices envisaged by the program;
2) submitted a diploma thesis;
3) submitted all documents required by the Dean of the Faculty.
3. The diploma examination is held in front of the Commission appointed by the Dean of the Faculty in accordance with the guidelines of the Faculty Council. The Commission is chaired by the Dean of the Faculty or person by him authorized.
4. The diploma exam includes:
1) presentation of thesis,
2) discussion on work,
3) check the level of knowledge in the field of study.
5. The Faculty Council defines detailed rules of diplomacy, in particular:
1) rules of student selection and approval of thesis topics ,
2) timeliness,
3) rules for appointing reviewers,
4) guidelines on the scope and conduct of the diploma exam.
6. Examination of the diploma exam is carried out by the Commission on a part of its session. Rating
the diploma examination is set as the arithmetic mean of all partial scores
obtained for the presentation of the work and answers to all the questions asked. Partial evaluation
set questions to ask. In view of the positive result of the diploma exam, the Commission is taking
decide on the proper occupational title and graduation diploma by establishing an assessment
final – the result of graduation.
7. The result of graduation from the University, entered into the diploma and the supplement set
is as average weighted with the following grades:
1) average grade in the study, calculated according to § 14 of the AGH University of Science and Technology,
2) final evaluation of work, determined in accordance with § 24 9;
3) assessment of the diploma examination established by the Commission.
8. Weightings of the evaluations referred to in para. 11 is determined by the Faculty Council, with an average grade of studies are considered with a weight of not less than 60%.
9. The result of the diploma examination, the grades of the examination and the result of graduation
announces the chairman of the examination committee in the presence of its members immediately after student defense.
10. If you fail to obtain a grade from the diploma exam, the Dean of the Faculty
sets the second date of the exam. Examination exam to obtain a grade higher than Sufficient is not acceptable.
11. The retest can not take place before two weeks and no later than
within three months of the date of the first diploma exam. The term of this exam
The Dean of the Faculty informs the student at least 7 days before the appointed date
repeat diploma exam.
12. If the diploma examination is not completed within the second term, the Dean of the Faculty shall delete it
student from the list of students.
13. A diploma examination with at least satisfactory result is an act of graduation higher in the University.
14. The student, after completing the diploma examination, becomes a graduate of the University and receives a diploma of graduation. Graduate before graduation should settle all obligations to the University, in particular the filing of the required documents, including the departure card
University, and pay the required fees. To receive a diploma, the graduate confirms the signature.
15. Diplomas of graduation awarded to graduates Dean of the Faculty. Graduation should be held at a graduation meeting organized in a manner Celebrated by the Dean of the Faculty.
