Module content
Lectures (20h):

Getting to know the technology for producing fuels from biomass. A detailed discussion of unit processes included in the structure of the entire production process. Rules for selection of equipment for selected processes. Basis of design processes of biomass utilization. A detailed discussion of the design principles of complete plants for the production of biomass-based fuels. Rules of selection of biomass types for fuels production.

Seminar classes (10h):

Classes include detailed rules for the design of design of fuel production from biomass. Introduction to the creation of the construction of a business plan. Sample Design of the plant biomass fuel production. Examples of proper selection of equipment to selected input parameters of the technological process. Discussion of rules for choosing the best solution for the project. Individual project of biomass installation for fuel production.
Student understands the necessity of searching for new technical solutions in the field of designing process equipment in order to achieve the optimization of costs, protection of the environment and the increased safety of staff and property.

Teaching methods and techniques:
  • Lectures: Treści prezentowane na wykładzie są przekazywane w formie prezentacji multimedialnej w połączeniu z klasycznym wykładem tablicowym wzbogaconymi o pokazy odnoszące się do prezentowanych zagadnień.
  • Seminar classes: Na zajęciach seminaryjnych podstawą jest prezentacja multimedialna oraz ustna prowadzona przez studentów. Kolejnym ważnym elementem kształcenia są odpowiedzi na powstałe pytania, a także dyskusja studentów nad prezentowanymi treściami.
Warunki i sposób zaliczenia poszczególnych form zajęć, w tym zasady zaliczeń poprawkowych, a także warunki dopuszczenia do egzaminu:

The basis for passing the subject is the submission of the project and its presentation. In addition, a test is provided, which tests the general knowledge gained during lectures and consultations.

    – Participation rules in classes: Studenci uczestniczą w zajęciach poznając kolejne treści nauczania zgodnie z syllabusem przedmiotu. Studenci winni na bieżąco zadawać pytania i wyjaśniać wątpliwości. Rejestracja audiowizualna wykładu wymaga zgody prowadzącego.

    – Attendance is mandatory: Yes
    – Participation rules in classes: Studenci prezentują na forum grupy temat wskazany przez prowadzącego oraz uczestniczą w dyskusji nad tym tematem. Ocenie podlega zarówno wartość merytoryczna prezentacji, jak i tzw. kompetencje miękkie.
Method of calculating the final grade:

Assessment will be issued on the basis of an individual project and passed a test of knowledge from lecture. Final rating is 60% of the assessment of the project and 40% of the test.

Sposób i tryb wyrównywania zaległości powstałych wskutek nieobecności studenta na zajęciach:

A student may be absent twice during the semester. It is not planned to take classes due to the fact that an individual project is issued, which must be given during the last classes along with its prosessing. In the case of a justified absence from the final classes, the student is obliged to present the project within a specified time by the teacher during the correction session.
